About
Hello, I am Lily Elizath Brown, and Tattoo Vibes is mine. It is a tattoo inspiration library built on one stubborn idea: before you commit to something permanent, you should be able to look at a lot of real tattoos, on real people, made by artists you can actually go and book.
Why I started this site
This started with my own search, and how badly it went.
I had wanted a tattoo for years and finally decided to get one. So I did what everybody does. I opened a search tab and started looking. What I found was frustrating in a very specific way. Page after page of digital mockups, flat clip art designs on a white background, and stock illustrations that had clearly never touched skin. The few real photographs I did find were reposted with no credit at all, so even when I loved a piece, there was no way to find out who made it.
That last part is what actually bothered me. A tattoo is not just a design. It is the work of a specific person with a specific hand and a specific style. A fine line piece by one artist and the same idea by another are two completely different tattoos. Stripping the artist out of the picture does not just fail the artist, it fails you, because you cannot book a drawing. You book a person.
So I started saving things properly. Real photographs of finished, healed work, always with a note of who made it. That folder got out of hand, and eventually it became Tattoo Vibes.
What I actually do here
Every guide on this site is a curated set of real tattoo photographs, usually ten to fourteen per article, grouped around one clear theme. Sometimes that theme is a placement, like spine, collarbone or ribs. Sometimes it is a motif, like lavender, moons or butterflies. Sometimes it is a style, like fine line or blackwork.
Under each photograph you will find two things. First, a credit to the tattoo artist, written exactly as they write their own handle, linking straight to their profile. Second, a short write up from me on what makes the piece work: how the size reads on the body, where the linework carries the design, what will age well and what will not, and what to ask for if you want something in the same direction.
That write up is the part I care most about. Anyone can put together a grid of pretty pictures. The useful thing is being able to say why a piece works, so you can walk into a consultation and describe what you want instead of just holding up a phone.
How I choose what to feature
- Real tattoos only. Finished work photographed on a real person. No digital mockups, no flash sheets presented as finished tattoos, and nothing that looks generated rather than tattooed.
- A traceable artist. If I cannot work out who made a piece, it does not go in. No credit, no feature. That rule has cost me plenty of images I liked.
- It has to teach something. The photograph needs to be clear enough to actually study, and the piece needs to show something worth understanding about placement, scale or linework.
- Range over repetition. Within each guide I try to cover both ends of the scale, from something tiny and easy to hide through to a full statement piece, because readers arrive with very different appetites.
Artists come first
I do not make the tattoos on this site and I do not claim any ownership of them. Every single image carries its artist credit directly underneath it, not buried at the bottom of the page, because the person who made the work should be the easiest thing on the page to find.
If you are an artist and you want a credit corrected, a handle updated or a photograph removed, just tell me. I will do it, quickly, and I will not ask you for a formal legal notice first. Use the contact page or email hello@tattvibes.com. There is more detail on the copyright and DMCA page.
What this site is not
I am not a tattoo artist and I do not run a studio. I do not sell designs, I do not take bookings, and nothing here is medical advice. Tattooing is a permanent procedure that carries real risks, so the professional in this equation is the licensed artist you sit down with, not me. What I offer is a well organised reference library and an honest opinion about what makes a piece work.
How the site pays for itself
This site is free to read and is funded by advertising. Adverts are chosen by advertising networks rather than by me, and their presence is never an endorsement. Nobody can pay to be featured in a guide, and no artist is included because of a commercial arrangement. If that ever changes for a particular article, it will be disclosed clearly inside that article. You can read more in the editorial policy and the privacy policy.
Say hello
Questions, corrections, suggestions for a guide, or an artist you think deserves more attention are all genuinely welcome. Reach me through the contact page or at hello@tattvibes.com, and I answer most messages within two working days.
